While this review may be long, I strongly encourage anyone considering a position here to read it in its entirety. The turnover rate for a company of its size is alarmingly high, and it is for good reason. Unfortunately I cannot recommend working for Whole Latte Love to anyone for numerous reasons. 1: Poor leadership By poor leadership, I mean the few people at the very top of this company. I am not referring to middle managers or team leads, they are wonderful people who are good at their jobs, as are most employees at Whole Latte Love. I cannot say the same for those who operate this company at the top. Nearly every issue here is because of their poor communication, organization, and overall lack of professionalism and accountability. When things go wrong, they are quick to blame employees for doing what they were told, rather than recognize their own mistakes or unreasonable expectations. They truly have absolutely no business in being in leadership positions of any kind. 2: Micromanagement Leadership makes it abundantly clear that they do not trust their employees. All departments went through multiple audits in a year, being forced to task track and time every second. This sort of thing would be understandable if it were extremely rare, and was genuinely used to get a better idea of employee contributions. This clearly was not the case, and often they were looking for someone to cut. 3: Reliance on AI This company absolutely views AI as a replacement for very necessary human employees. 3: Lack of stability Employees who have long been in great standing will suddenly be blacklisted for no reason. Good employees are often fired or treated so poorly they eventually leave, and at the same time employees who frequently cause issues are kept for too long. 4: Unclear responsibilities Employee responsibilities rarely match their job description, and when people leave, the employees left are expected to pick up on the extra work. This is often without any discussions to go over additional duties, let alone any possibility of a title adjustment or increase in pay. Leadership also has little to no understanding of what many employees do. Rather than make any attempts to understand, they complain and blame employees for their lack of understanding of how their own business works. 5: Blackout period / vacation time There is a blackout period from November to February in which employees cannot take any PTO. This in itself is not the main issue, however many employees are not made aware of this until well after they start working. A policy such as this needs to be disclosed during the interview process to ensure a good fit for both the employee and the company. 6: Lack of respect for employees as people Leadership severely lacks respect for employees. Many employees are expected to be available at the drop of a hat well outside of business hours during the holiday season. This is completely unreasonable, as this is a time of year in which people should be prioritizing time with their families. Most of the situations that require employees to work after hours are also due to messes made by leadership. If an employee is out sick for more than a couple of days, they are often also pressured to return to the office before making a recovery. 7: Poor benefits On top of the toxic work environment, benefits at Whole Latte Love are also extremely poor. Their healthcare plans are outrageously unaffordable for nearly all employees. Also, free snacks at the office is a perk. It is not a benefit. You will be much better off if you look elsewhere. This company will only improve once leadership at the very top realizes the need to make some serious changes.
