I worked for Samuel & Co as a prop trader. I can tell you that there education is very good although the strategies are mediocre.
Before applying for the course & job, you are told that the OTE first year of a junior trader are aprx 24K. Now this is based on a performance fee from profits made on your account. However what they fail to disclose is that every trader must pay a one off fee of £200 to 'work' for S&C followed by another fee of £200 every single month, so after paying for the £1200 course fee, and if you are successful in securing a position as a junior trader you have already spent £1600.
Once you have paid you initial fees you are allowed access to $25k trading account. You are then told the rules regarding trading.
1. You can only trade the Majors. (8 pairs)
2. you must close all positions before 8pm every Friday.
3. 1% max trade risk. Although due to very tight leverage it is almost impossible to have more than 1 open trade at a time, or even to risk the full 1%
4. You will work from home as there is no space in the office, and they are not accommodating at all.
5. 50/50 profit split between S&C and yourself.
Now going back to the earnings, Samuel & Co state that your first year OTE as a junior trader are around £24K. For this to be true, you would have to return +200% in your first year of trading on a $25k account, using a scalping system that allows you to have one active trade at a time. Whether you are profitable or not you are still liable to pay the £200 monthly fee. (This cannot be deducted from any profits made). So to be a trader for S&C you must pay them £2400 a year, meaning in order to achieve a small income you must return at least +210%.
After talking to many ex 'employees' it is very very clear that Samuel & Co makes the bulk of its income from luring in hungry young traders, that are mesmerised by exotic Instagram posts by Samuel. After challenging some of his 'senior traders' about their stats, it came to light that they in fact trade Demo accounts and only use an algorithm on live funds. In order to have this algorithm for you account you must pay S&C a further £3500, which was always odd to me as the Algorithm (called Fusion) was always hyped up so surely if it was that good he would have wanted all the traders running this amazing algorithm across multiple trading accounts, however this is not the case. And FYI Fusion is down -8% year to date, great algo!
It is a very fair statement to say that in fact you never work for Samuel & Co trading you are just a subscriber, and with over 100 'Junior traders' all paying there course fee's and account fee's it is very obvious where Samuel's perceived wealth comes from.
People love to flock to 'successful' individuals however please ask yourself a couple of very simple questions. Would you work for Samuel &Co after reading this? And if Sam has indeed made all this money from trading why is it so important to continue signing up new traders? why not just trade your and invest your wealth?
Fortunately, i invested little time and money with Samuel & Co, and have since gone on to trade successfully as private trader and as prop trader. Sometimes early lessons in this game can be cruel. So before you are fooled by speech and a rented Lambo or Porshe.
