Sandel sometimes does not pay. They did pay me after filing claims in small claims court. - Software Engineer Sandel Avionics Employee Review

Pros

1.0 The company has been very innovative in the past and the owner is aggressive in many engineering directions. 2.0 I was paid after filing for non-payment in small claims court. Sandel claimed their was previous funding issues and communication problems with me. I have to say they did finally pay me - so I wanted to make it clear here they did take action after small claims court. Setting company at 2 stars instead of 1 for coming through on payment.

Cons

1.0 You are invited to work without getting paid. It's amazing that a full fledged aviation company can treat employees like this. If you like to work hard and not get paid come and work for Sandel - they are looking for people like you. 2.0 From the top to the bottom of this company employment is a revolving door of who can get in and get out fast enough and get paid. 3.0 This is the one and only employer in my life that did not pay me for services rendered (I am over 40 years old). This company is beyond shady and should be avoided by everyone on all levels of business. Look elsewhere for employment, this place will only disappoint you eventually, it is cursed with a owner who thinks he can avoid rules and make his own way - and you either follow him into the darkness or you leave.

Pros

A lot of harsh rhetoric has been written about Sandel on this forum, and a lot of it was true. The current ranking and reviews are not without merit. I would like to provide a few thoughts and insights about what happened in the past and how we are currently changing things at Sandel. The prior leadership style was like building the airplane while flying it, in the dark, with the tail on fire, and no parachute. While the prior management style was autocratic and siloed, my management philosophy is to provide clear concise goals and empower individuals to do the best job they can do. In the past there were unrealistic goals and the demands placed on employees that left them disillusioned and burned out. I can promise the days of chaos driven “fire-drills” to meet faux deadlines are over. Teamwork, schedule, communication, transparency and openness is the new cultural environment here at Sandel. The “Kool-Aid” has been relegated to the kitchen and I have redefined all executive roles to give each VP more autonomy to make decisions that are appropriate and supporting of their respective teams.

Cons

We can’t change the past, but we can learn from it. Although we still have challenges ahead, we are enthusiastic about the future and our people.

Pros

Small company, some nice people, a few talented engineers

Cons

The schedules are based on the demo dates, and they are very unrealistic. People only work hard of to make a demo but at the end , the work does not get done right. There are no more managers left because the top management wants to micro manage everything and has unrealistic expectations. I agree with people saying it will take a miracle to finish this project. They have serious financial issues and have had problems paying back vendors and contractors. Very limited resources to get your job done. I would never recommend this company to anyone!
