Decent company with some creative setbacks - Senior Designer Savvas Learning Company Employee Review

Pros

Decent benefits. 20 days off PTO and up to 9 sick days (accrued). There’s a 401k match and annual performance bonus- they have paid out bonuses for the last few years consistently. This is an overall good company to work for. Many employees have been here for over 10 years. Mid-level management is good and I haven’t seen many micromanagers here.

Cons

The PPO healthcare plan isn’t the best, it does the job but still have a potential $3000 out of pocket max individual and $6000 for family which is too high imo. Savvas is very cost conscious and not very innovation driven- this can be quite dream squashing for creatives working here. A number of creative decisions are also made based on the subjective opinions of a few people at the top which is problematic. Savvas has a lot of engineers but not many that are skilled in front-end design which is a setback for innovation.

Pros

I’ve had a genuinely positive experience working at Savvas Learning Company. One of the standout aspects of the organization is its culture—there’s a strong sense of collaboration, respect, and shared purpose that you feel right away. People are approachable, supportive, and willing to help each other succeed, which makes a big difference in day-to-day work. The employees here are incredibly dedicated and mission-driven. It’s clear that people care deeply about education and the impact their work has on students and teachers. There’s a lot of expertise across teams, and I’ve found colleagues to be both knowledgeable and generous with their time and ideas. Leadership also deserves recognition for being transparent and forward-thinking. There’s a clear effort to communicate priorities, listen to feedback, and continuously improve. Leaders seem invested in both the success of the company and the well-being of employees, which helps build trust and engagement. Overall, Savvas Learning Company is a place where you can feel proud of the work you do, grow professionally, and be part of a supportive and purpose-driven team.

Cons

The pace can be quite fast, especially during peak seasons, which may feel challenging at times. However, this also creates opportunities to learn quickly, stay engaged, and be part of meaningful, high-impact work.
