Some companies value people more than others but I really felt like a disposable tool at this company. I would be in meetings and certain executives would often openly 'joke' about whether or not they needed people or could just replace them with AI. I don't think I was valued as a person.
I felt that the team morale was quite low, I spoke to 2 other colleagues and was not the only individual who dreaded coming into work. The R&R days were helpful but I think if there is a consistent theme of concern, it can still build up in the company.
A lot of talented people were let go in the most recent round of layoffs. I think that the talent could have been better spent on the needs of the business and serving our partners. This might have been a good thing for those who were let go as they are now free to find better opportunities, but I think for those of us that remain, our jobs will become even harder (even with AI).
I often find myself thinking if I will be part of another round of layoffs and if I should start searching for a job where I feel valued ASAP.
