Thank you for sharing your perspective and for your long-standing contribution to Scout Talent. I’m pleased to hear that the flat leadership structure and recognition for effort have been part of your experience. We’ve always believed that people should feel close to decision-making and able to have a real impact, rather than operating within an “ivory tower” hierarchy. You’re also right that success require persistences. Results don’t always come immediately, but consistency and resilience make a real difference over time. I appreciate your encouragement around continuing to invest in new products and features. Building and improving our software remains a major focus for us, and feedback like this reinforces the importance of that work. Thank you again for your contribution and for taking the time to share your experience. Andrea CEO, Scout Talent

Pros

Excellent reward and recognition for effort . You get out what you put in, with uncapped earning potential. Very talented colleagues provide support across all departments Every day brings variety and is never boring. Provided you maintain a required level of activity, you can choose your own adventure, concentrating on industries/roles that you may have a passion or natural attraction for, then mix things up and diversify to keep your interest up. It's very rewarding work when you help clients achieve success in growing their workforce, through your efforts, strongly supported by relevant specialists and teams. Good prospects to move sideways or upwards, to gain experience and grow your skill-set in other departments.

Cons

The base salary is relatively low but good commission is there for the taking. It's up to you. Whilst the first 12 mths can be challenging, as you build your client base, strong sales skills, and perhaps some financial backing, will help you through the early days. It's not an easy role, but would you really want easy? There are challenging times to get through, to reach your potential and forecasts so it takes persistence and endurance, that will not suit everybody. The sales role doesn't suit those who are uncomfortable speaking with all levels of management or who lack confidence in oral and written skills but good communicators, who love 'talking the talk' will thrive. Whilst strong teamwork exists, you need to also be able to work independently, be self-motivating and just get on with it. Don't take a prospect's rejection personally as some are open to assistance and others are not...move on from a 'no' to the next 'yes'!

Thanks for sharing your thoughtful and practical perspective - especially given you're someone with long-standing experience in the business. You've captured the reality of our sales environment well: it's demanding, varied, and very rewarding for people who enjoy autonomy, momentum, and the satisfaction of helping clients grow. The balance between independence and strong cross-team support is something we work hard to maintain, and I'm pleased to see that reflected here. You're also right that the role isn’t easy, particularly in the early stages. We’re upfront that success requires resilience, strong communication skills, and consistency - and that it won’t suit everyone. For those who do lean in, the opportunity to build deep capability, strong relationships, and meaningful earning potential is real. Thank you as well for the suggestion around salary packaging. I'll take this on board and ask someone in our team to look into options. I appreciate you taking the time to share your experience and for the contribution you continue to make at STG. - Andrea, CEO

Pros

Working at Scout has given me many opportunities to explore and develop my potential. The leadership team is very supportive of career goals and truly listens to their employees. As a returning employee, I feel very fortunate to be welcomed back, and I’m grateful that the company understood my situation and accepted me without hesitation. Having worked with international companies before, I can confidently say that Scout genuinely values its employees. This is reflected not only in the support and trust shown by leadership, but also in the inclusive culture, flexibility, and respect for individual circumstances. Scout creates an environment where people feel heard, supported, and motivated to do their best work. I returned to Scout because I truly believe in the software and the people behind it. I love how we help thousands of people find jobs and contribute to changing lives. I also enjoy helping our clients grow their organisations by connecting them with the right talent. Being part of this success is a true honor and something I’m proud to be involved in. I’m passionate about the product and feel grateful to support our clients in finding their best people while helping candidates land their dream jobs.

Cons

The work can be demanding at times, but it drives learning, skill development, and personal growth. Multiple priorities and tight deadlines. Balancing several tasks can be challenging, but it strengthens time management and organisational skills. Being entrusted with important tasks can feel demanding, but it builds confidence, accountability, and problem-solving skills.

Thank you for sharing this reflection and for your long-term commitment to STG. Hearing from someone who has grown with us (and returned to us) is incredibly meaningful. I’m glad you’ve felt supported in your career goals and welcomed back with understanding and trust. Creating an inclusive environment where people feel heard and valued as individuals is something we care deeply about, and it’s encouraging to see that reflected in your experience. You’re also right - the work can be demanding, and priorities can be tight at times. I appreciate how you’ve framed that challenge as part of the learning and growth that comes with being trusted to do meaningful work. Thank you for believing in our software, our purpose, and our people. The impact you describe ... for candidates, clients, and the broader community ... is exactly why we do what we do. - Andrea, CEO
