Pros
Made friends and connected with other employees who were as miserable as I was.
Cons
The staff morale was so low and it truly affected my day-to-day life. Leadership is complacent about employees' well-being and there's a heavy focus on what doesn't get accomplished instead of what does get accomplished. When employees bring up the fact that they're underappreciated, leadership is confused as to why their employees need constant validation. Leadership projects their own stress onto their subordinates, which means there's no space for employees to bring up concerns. When concerns are brought out, they're met with eye-rolls, "tough love," and leaderships' self-deprecating jokes. Oh, unrelated – the Exec Director once fell asleep during a meeting. The turnover rate is out of control. If you've been there 6 months, people treat you like you've been there forever. The culture is to point the finger and blame others when something goes wrong. There's absolutely no team mindset. They cannot retain women of color. When women of color are hired, they're mostly placed in admin positions and they don't stay long. That is not a coincidence. TLDR: Everyone's overworked, underpaid, and underappreciated.
