Pros
Majority of SOC co-workers have great work ethic. Management staff are a pleasure to speak to. Incidents are fun to work through to resolve, but it can be stressful.
Cons
Too many tasks passed down to SOC from empty positions and very repetitive tasks (for ex. notify the client of incidents through a few different methods. Sending out an advisory email, contact them on the phone, and notify them on a text chat). SOC is always understaffed for the year that I have been here. The team size is too small, a total of three dispatchers and one supervisor to manage customer and client calls, texts, and emails; resolving security incidents across dozens of stations; managing the patrol status of 50+ officers; review and burn footage from CCTV for management, client and any approved public disclosure requests. Personally, I do not recommend working in SOC for the Sound Transit account because the pay and benefits do not accommodate for the unreasonable workload given.
