Pros

The people supported. Get to meet lots of new and interesting people. Permission to use own initiative and think up creative and fun things to do - you're kept busy! Encouraged to help people work on their skills and achieve their goals. Big impact on the lives of the people you look after - job satisfaction. Relationships. Lots of training. Get to work as part of a big team. Great for sociable people who like trying new things and are confident.

Cons

Is a lot of responsibility - giving medication, following guidelines, paperwork, updating paperwork, risk assessing. All part and parcel of any social care provider but not for everyone. Can be challenging so need to be patient and understanding. Some people come into the job for the wrong reasons. If you cant put the person you're supportings needs before your own then it isnt the job for you.

Pros

The service users (some) Staff (some) Break times Days out with the people supported

Cons

Management/leadership is poor which leads to a high turnover as staff leave due to issues/conflict with managemen. The only people suffering is the service users who see many faces due to staff leaving. This company is known as the revolving door for that reason. Save yourself the stress and do no apply here! Management have no clue on what care means and will push service users to do things they do not wish to do they dont give them a choice and keep pushing at them. Disability or not they should still have a choice and not be forced.
