Pros
Seqera has a unique culture, due to it's origins in academia and open source. The company is committed to creating value for the life sciences industry while also giving back to open source and academic researchers, and making sure that everyone in the company can enjoy their work along the way. If you live in Barcelona, the Seqera office is a lot of fun, and if you're anywhere else, it's an excellent remote workplace. We have flexible hours, so it's easy to prioritize things outside of work when you need to. But for me, the best part about working for Seqera is the chance to build something that is widely-used and impactful in life sciences (and hopefully, one day, many other fields). It is a unique opportunity, one that is hard to quantify against larger companies that pay more but maybe the work isn't as interesting.
Cons
Remote work isn't for everyone. We do what we can to stay connected with each other, including yearly gatherings at the Barcelona office, but it's hard to have the same kind of community that you might have with your neighbors. So if you aren't in Barcelona, make sure you have that community outside of work before you join.
