Great company, but people don't quit jobs - they quit managers. - Sales Associate Sherwin-Williams Employee Review

Pros

The company as a whole is very cooperative with the schedules and needs of their employees. They offer great benefits (even to part-timers), and I've never heard any of their managers say a bad thing about the way the company treats them or does business. They also provide you with your own Sherwin Williams work clothing.

Cons

If I knew then what I know now about employment law, then the manager I had at this location would have been in serious trouble. I've known other store managers for the company and they were absolutely fantastic, but it was unfortunate that the one was so unkind and without class. Poor training -- you essentially train yourself through personal observation. I hear it's better if you're part of the sales management program.

Pros

Wonderful employees at each store, particularily helpful at navigating the vast expanse of products. Overall, great work environment with special people.

Cons

Customer base could be annoying at times, refusing advice or assistance and then complaining about prices. Contractors can be difficult to deal with especially on weekends, acting like they deserve the best prices and won't listen to manager suggestions.

Pros

A positive work environment. The best co-workers I have had so far in my career worked with me at Sherwin. I also worked under an amazing management team. There is a lot of room for career growth. I worked for Sherwin for about 3.5 years. I started as a contracted lab technician, then I was hired full time as an R&D Associate Chemist. I quickly worked my way up to R&D Chemist within a year of being hired full time. The department I worked in was very fast paced, however, I know there are many other groups that move at a much slower pace with longer timelines. This would make it much easier to manage the workload.

Cons

Working with marketing was challenging at times. We would regularly receive big requests a day before they needed something. This would pose a challenge when you had other priorities to attend to. The pay was average. I do think it could have been slightly higher for all of the job responsibilities given to the chemists in my group specifically. The workload was overwhelming at times.
