Pros
I’ve been at Sift for several years now, and it’s truly been an amazing experience. From the very beginning, I was welcomed into a culture of collaboration, innovation, and overall mutual respect. This was not easy during pandemic times and there is still a risk of feeling isolated if you are not proactive. The leadership team has tried to be transparent and for the most part, I believe they genuinely care about employee well-being and growth. The work is intellectually stimulating and can be very demanding. There’s always more that could be done for but we just can’t get to it all, so we must prioritize. This has led to some internal conflict on how to best serve our customers.
The product is cutting-edge but the competition is fierce, and it’s exciting to work on solutions that are making a significant impact in fraud prevention and digital trust. Sift’s mission is to help everyone trust the internet and it’s something I’m proud to contribute to. Most of my colleagues feel the same.
One of the best things about working here is the people. My colleagues are incredibly talented, supportive, and always willing to help each other out. It's easy to collaborate but can be chaotic at times because there can be too many initiatives that are compelling to work on.
Cons
The pace can be fast, and at times, there is a lot on your plate. Sometimes it feels like you’re moving a mountain. If you thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, enjoy solving complex issues and creating structure from chaos, you’ll enjoy it here.
Onboarding new teammates can also be hard. Oftentimes information is fragmented, there is too much tribal knowledge and expectations are shifting so it can be difficult for some to navigate this ambiguity. I don’t recommend working here if you enjoy a more defined structure and primary focus is on more steady and incremental gains. It’s more of a start up than a big corporation.
