Pros

The branding and the "Made in Germany" product is relatively good sell to majority of our clients. Smaato was once a powerful force in the industry and especially in Asia. I like it when there was a diversity of professionals weighing in on strategies and tactics. Unfortunately, many of the good talent failed to stay due to bad overall culture and management. Great team to work with internationally, locally the culture is pretty negative

Cons

1. Staff are being lectured for replying emails that is not in his own style of preference. 2. Embarrassing staffs in front of others. 3. Shouts from his desks and orders people around 4. Conduct ad-hoc meetings without regards of anyone's schedule in the company 5. Very unproductive meetings, on the context of brainstorming but actually it is his own work that is required to be done and understood at his level 6. Bad habit of talking behind people's back and acts like he is best buddies in-front of that person in a hypocritical fashion 7. Forwarding of private emails to him only (Your emails are never safe) 8. Dangle promotion carrots all time to employees in public. Embarrassing when one doesn't get promoted during due time. 9. Disrespectful to those who contribute lesser than others in terms of revenue. Puts people down in front of everyone, has no respect for basic dignity. 10. Manipulates upper management, unnecessary tension among the leadership levels 11. Hires a whole lot of his own people from his ex company, and within his private social circle. 12. Too much google documents and useless unproductive tracking 13. Promotes a whole lot of managers to become SENIOR manager but same job scope 14. Overdose of google docs and google docs and google docs .... 15. Management in Singapore is like a Timex watch in a digital world 16. Daily stand ups and two times a week meetings 17. Management way or the highway (Not much freedom of expression or learning) 18. Cramped office and everyone seems to be working in a sweatshop factory 19. HR is ruling the company with an iron fist, like a discipline mistress 20. Negative enviornment and the list continues...

Pros

You’ll gain an impressive level of resilience. Think of it as corporate bootcamp—minus the leadership, vision, or purpose.

Cons

Where do I begin? If you’re passionate about being gaslit, micromanaged, and talked down to by leadership, congratulations—you’ve found your paradise. Smaato (Verve) offers a front-row seat to toxic management at its finest, where upper leadership thrives on cutting people down instead of building them up. Direction changes with the wind (or maybe just with leadership’s mood swings), and employees are expected to navigate the chaos without a map—or even a compass. Transparency? Only if you count being told one thing and watching the complete opposite unfold behind closed doors. And let’s not forget the business practices. If you enjoy working somewhere that plays fast and loose with ethics, you’ll feel right at home. “Trust” and “stability” are just words tossed around in all-hands meetings to kill time between layoffs.
