Pros
The company is certainly known for having great products. In many ways, it's ahead of the curve. It has nearly mastered the art of SEO strategy and has come up with great ideas for distributing its products. Everyone who works at SmartAsset is incredibly talented and hard-working. The team leads do a pretty good job of rewarding their team members when they meet the goals they set. While the company culture has evolved over time, the environment is friendly and welcoming. There are some nice perks as well, like free lunches for the company three times a week.
Cons
There's a lack of professional development for employees. Startups often have high turnover rates. But in some part, this company's retention problem is due in part to the fact that there's not much emphasis on creating ways for employees to gain new skills or grow as individuals and professionals. The HR "department" is still in its infancy. There's not enough structure in place yet to make sure employees can talk about any job-related issues they have and ensure that those problems are actually addressed. It's great that goals are set, but sometimes they're unrealistic. Sometimes goals are set without really taking the time to reflect on what worked and didn't work.
