Pros

Leave and attendance process is automated and super smooth.

Cons

1. Managements like creeping around employees private email, social network even chat accounts without any prior warning or anything. 2. There are numerous number of cameras hanging everywhere in the office. Management keeps eye on every employees every minutes as if they are some sort of criminal or something. If they see any employee out of his/her desk or talking with other employees someone from hr will come running to check what's going on. 3. ITID department has super power to do whatever they want. They even rub there noses on development process and comes up with ridiculous security policies to make development process slower and slower. They even play 'hacker' using windows pcs, installs bunch of user agents on every pc,steals passwords, access personal accounts of employees in the name 'auditing'. 4. I have uses the 'Management' above. But the truth is there's actually no management board there. It's a family business. Family members runs the company and they do whatever they want to do. 5. They changes their handbook whenever they want. They even change salary structures and increment policies whenever they want. 6. Increment amount can be as low as 1k bdt. And that's you get after waiting months after months as arrear. Imagine waiting for increment 1 year then after 1 year and 3 or 4 months passing you get to know that your increment is x amount. 7. Managers there are like dinosaur doing local politics. All they know is how to blame others and survive. 8. There's a tendency of loving Microsoft products so much. May be they use Microsoft products more than Microsoft itself use for them.

Nothing grows? Let’s look at the facts: In 2018-19 fiscal year (a) Southtech’s total asset grew by 12%, (b) net profit grew by 94%, and (c) number of employees grew by 7.6%. Apart from that, all our targeted commercial products finally saw total transformation from old technology to new technology in this fiscal. If this is not growth and future looking, we don’t know what you are talking about. A number of employees were fired for serious breaches of discipline and highly unethical behavior, e.g. (a) downloading and watching pornographic material while on premises, (b) creating a syndicate within the company to open their own business using company time and properties to the detriment of company interests, and (c) harassing female employees through their private internet e-mails and online messaging systems. When management was alerted about these, IT Infrastructure Department (ITID) was instructed to investigate. The above issues were categorically proven and all the accused employees were given the opportunity to defend themselves as per labor laws. When they were shown the evidence, they admitted their guilt in writing in the presence of a lawyer. They were therefore fired on very justified grounds. Yes, we do have cameras and surveillance systems in place. But these are for security purposes, just like the ones you find in shopping malls. People in shopping malls are not all criminals, are they? Only criminals are worried about CCTV cameras. We use CCTV cameras only when an event occurs. We make no apologies for having them. Yes, ITID is empowered to look into whether anybody is downloading anything illegal or going to illegal sites. We make no apologies for that either. Yes, Southtech Limited is a PRIVATE limited company. Private limited companies have a stronger and more coherent organizational culture than public limited companies as there are no outside interference. They are usually better run. None of our existing employees have ever raised this as an issue. Our legal status is obvious and so people joining us should be totally aware of this. All employees are required to go by an employee handbook which is vetted by lawyers and is compliant with labor laws. The last change in the employee handbook was made on 1st January 2018 and this was necessary to bring it in line with labor laws. Yes, salary structures are changed but always upwards! So there should not be any complaints about this unless one is a poor performer and could not make it to the next rung. If one deserves an increment, one will get one but increments cannot be taken for granted. Managers are managers and will demand work from their subordinates in time and of the right quality. We cannot apologize on behalf of demanding managers, it is their job to get the right results from their subordinates. Yes, as a Gold Partner of Microsoft, we do love Microsoft as we love Oracle and many other technologies. We do plenty of work on open technologies. We make no apologies for using Microsoft products or any other products. And, yes, we do respect employees who are respectable, like the ones who do work hard and smart and who have not shown signs of moral degradation.

Pros

They pay decent for the area. Co-workers were nice and helpful for the most part. Insurance was okay, but expensive.

Cons

No leadership. People who were part of the "Good Ol' Boys" club got away with murder while others were let go with no reason given.

There is a Suggestion Box where employees can put their concerns or suggestions anonymously. A direct approach is also always welcome. It would have been helpful if you had expressed your opinion while you were employed in the Company. If you still are, please take this initiative and see whether any action is taken or not. "Good 'Ol Boys may have gotten away with murder" but the Company culture promotes collaborative effort and so the Good 'Ol Boys network, if any, can be easily broken. By the way, Company has hardly "let go" of people, especially those who have given value to the Company.
