Pros

- Great pay and benefits - Great staff and light-hearted environment - Good experience and networking with SoCal companies - Go places most people don't get to go - Small private company doing specialized jobs

Cons

- Long hours, long drives, mostly L.A and San Diego but can be as far north as Fresno - Turbulent schedule could be a 6 hour day followed by a 14 hour day, as much as 70+ hours a week - More than 24 hours notice of following day schedule is rare - Mostly utility locating in parking lots, abandoned areas, and gas stations

Pros

It is a small company so you aren't pigeonholed to certain tasks. You're involved from start to final report. This gives you ownership in the project. You travel to many different sites thoughout the western states. Many of these sites are in remote areas which is nice. The bosses give you great direction and freedom when you get to a certain level which doesn't take too long. Good people to work for and with. Guaranteed work with not many slow periods. If you are motivated you can do well. You learn about Seismic Surveys, Magnetic Surveys, EM Surveys etc. Very interesting work, you won't be bored.

Cons

Many miles on the road getting to the sites. You can be gone for days at a time. Occasionally you have to work in the desert in the summer. Work in and around gas stations and city streets can be tough.
