Pros
Got to work with great reporters. Staff at the headquarters office in Albany were often supportive. Other managers in the organization that stepped in to help were kind but only the direct manager has a real impact on this position.
Cons
In my experience, the manager frequently became visibly angry and spoke to staff in a way that I considered unprofessional. Multiple reporters discussed similar experiences. Compensation was low for the Atlanta market. The station did not have a dedicated photographer despite being in a top-10 market. Reporters were expected to provide six daily pitches even though only about three stories would typically be covered. Weekend staff often took on responsibilities that I believed should have been handled by management, despite earning around $53,000 annually. On manager vacations you will have to do their job.
