Pros
The new "One SJM" philosophy is setting the company up for greater collaboration, ingenuity, and future growth. Barriers between the once different factions are now being removed, providing more resources for all. The many great minds throughout the company are starting to work together and share their knoweldge, ideas, and unique expertise. This is providing a far greater ability to ensure the best materials, designs, and processes are being utilized. This new collaboration will lead to greater product quality and function.
Cons
The pros described above have created insecurities at the management level. This power struggle is forcing the scientists, engineers, and production personal, who are actually doing real work, to repeatably watch and listen to a dog and pony show. This takes time away from the actual work and is only for the personal gain of the manger, not the company or task. However, this reorganization artifact should soon dissipate as the managers fall into their newly defined spaces.
