Pros
It is a good company for freshers and will offer jobs to anyone and everyone who is willing to work for low salary. If you happen to get rejected this is one of the few companies where you can re-apply the next day and keep giving interviews until you are selected I worked in the company for 10 years because I was stuck in life due to personal issues and could not search elsewhere. I am grateful to Syntel for providing me with a job and I am thankful for the opportunity and would like the company to do well
Cons
Where do I start!! It is a long list but everything I write here it honest and truthful to the T a) The top management will constantly speak jargons like Integrity is a Qualifier but will never walk the talk b) Promotions are totally biased and if you don't do any work but are in the good books of your manager you will get promoted with 100% certainty People who don't do any work but spend time with their managers in smoke breaks and weekend booze parties are given the highest priority c) Anything and everything which is introduced in the name of transparency always has a hidden loophole The company introduced X.0 with Group Discussions & Interviews as assessments but lo the topic of the GD is leaked to a few chosen ones (you know who) and the interviews of people who need to pass the interview are taken by a pre-decided panel d) In every townhall the management will talk about customers and create the impression how much they care for them but the company middle level managers are encouraged to lie to their clients to hide leaves of their employees where there is a T&M Model e) The managers (people who are highly incompetent and get promoted because of their proximity with their manager) treat people (the ones who want to work hard and grow) like trash and demotivate them. f) Groupism is rampant and you need to speak the same language as your manager to grow in the organization g) The CEO (Rakesh Khanna) will start a story session in every town hall and make vague statements. h) The company has a portal called mysafeworkplace where incidents can be reported anonymously. Once they accepted that there was a problem with a certain manager as a bully and he needs to improve upon himself but within 6 months the same person got a promotion without any amendment in his behavior h) I rejected an employee because he could barely communicate (1 or 2 word answers per question) but within 2 days he was called back by the HR for an interview to be taken by another person i) The company even tried hiring undergraduates (hiding it from the clients) in order to save money j) The company will take money from the client for weekend work and the employees work get nothing. Even canteen facilities are closed during the weekend. The employees have to pay from their own pockets k) The toilets are not even cleaned periodically l) Everywhere the company can save money it will try to save it. The Work From Home Desktops are slow and can be bought from the junk market at Rs 10,000. The PC's are slow and you need to buy microphones at your own cost. The company cannot even provide proper working tools for its employees. m) The chairs which you get to sit on are usually broken and affects your posture and can cause back pain. o) Many years back the canteen had a food poisoning issue at one location. Instead of firing the vendor , he was instead moved to another location I am sure I am missing a few more but you get the point!
