Pros

The actual work itself is very good. You receive strong training and mentorship, and you'll get to know the other accountants well. You have real responsibilities - you see the impact of your work on a daily basis. Very fulfilling work.....

Cons

…. until the coronavirus pandemic. As of today (3/27), with Washington's Stay At Home order in effect, Pineapple is refusing to let employees work remotely. They claim that their IT infrastructure can't handle it, but after laying off most of the company this wasn't true (a coworker had talked to IT). We even offered to rotate as a compromise, some of us working from home and some of us on site. The executives would not budge an inch. The day after Inslee put the state on lockdown, no work got done. Employees were sobbing, thinking about walking out, planning to take paid time off.... it was a nightmare. We heard an executive screaming "GET THE [profanity] OUT OF MY OFFICE" to a coworker. And still, the company refused to let anybody work from home, despite workers with high risk factor pre-existing conditions. The company literally told us that if we wanted to work from home, we would need to take paid time off. When we tried to take a personal unpaid leave of absence, we were told we would not have a job to come back to. I confronted an executive on the ethics of this policy, and after being yelled at for a few minutes, I was fired for "insubordination". During this whole crisis, the company president, Michelle Barnett, posted anti-science articles about the virus in the company's internal facebook page. I asked a coworker with high-risk pre-existing conditions if they talked to HR about working from home, they said they didn't bother because they knew the answer. I was then informed that over the last 2 years, the HR department has turned over TWICE. Also they don't have a 401k plan or HSA.

Thank you for your recent review. Pineapple Hospitality, not unlike the rest of the hospitality industry across our nation and world, finds itself in an unprecedented circumstance. In a time of ever-changing information, protocols, and varying local, state and federal initiatives, I can most assuredly share with you that there is no such thing as “"business as usual" right now. Not for Pineapple. Not for our team members. Not for those affected directly by COVID-19. With that said, hotels have been designated as an essential service. To that end, our properties are open and operational to ensure availability for the lodging needs of our country’s military, first responders, city workers, utility workers, those needing to practice social distancing from their families, etc. While we are happy to be of service to our country, and happier still to be able to maintain the employment of as many of our team members as possible right now, we understand that uncertainty and anxiety are pervasive. We understand that our team members have needs and have done our level best to balance those personal needs with those of the business. Each team member is unique and we encourage open communication. Pineapple is committed to weathering this storm. While there is no rearview mirror by which we can vet our current path to determine if one direction may be better than another, we hold true to our commitment to a holistic value system of doing the most good where it counts. Our team members are the very best part of Pineapple and we appreciate their service and dedication.
