Pros
There are margins of time where opportunities open up for someone to get in a position to gain meaningful experience if staying in food packing is the long term goal. The site has great training materials and outlines of responsibilities and requirements. The site has a good employee recognition programs to celebrate those contributing to the companies success. Holidays and weekends off are a huge plus to those looking for work/life balance.
Cons
Selective opportunities available to managements flavor of the week. Loyalty is promoted over competence. All levels are underpaid for the workload at this site when compared to other food manufacturers of the same market cap (ADM). The Fresno site in particular is starved of resources due to the sites ability to constantly meet grueling targets with no reward for non management employees. Career advancement is nearly impossible. turnover is only at the hourly level. Most salaried positions are held by lifers, people who have been with the company for 20-40 years or individuals too old and have no intention of leaving the company so they are blocking all roads to promotion with their presence.
