Pros

After you work here, you won’t have to worry about having a worse job in the “creative” field. This is the bottom of the barrel. You will meet quite a few talented people in the same situation that your are... under appreciated and underutilized. Many of them will be fired for trivial or downright mysterious reasons. Well, not that mysterious, in that there is a serious lack of vision or leadership at the company. The people that work 50 hours per week for you are an easy scapegoat. Management will then either promote someone from the distant ranks (stylist to studio manager in a year?) or hire someone from completely outside the industry that knows less than you. So you will make some good friends (before one or both of you are fired) because bonds form quickly among the condemned. Don’t worry, these same people will be your bosses or coworkers at the next place.

Cons

Antiqued processes and procedures make this company at least ten years behind the rest of the industry. The management is hapless and out of touch. Ownership is just inconsiderate and, well, lame to work for. Very high employee turnover. Very low moral. Terrible all around. And all those other things mentioned in the “pros” section.

Pros

Thoughtful management team always thinking of what’s best for the employees. Communicative management, very open to feedback but straight forward which some people might have difficulty with, especially if you’re not a New Yorker.

Cons

Inexperienced employees. This might be their first job out of retail and they aren’t very savvy about work or life. Makes communicating from a place of common sense difficult. Needy and entitled staff in PDX.

Hi there. Appreciate your perspective. I do think it's difficult for folks new to the workforce to understand the perspectives and experiences of those who have "seen it all." Also the other way around, it can take patience for seasoned folks to truly understand what it's like to be just starting out in a job or career. It's so easy to be impatient with one another. It's important to remember that our backgrounds lead us to expect the world to work in certain ways, and when the world doesn't it can be confusing! At Straub we make a concerted effort to practice empathy, putting ourselves in one another's shoes regardless of our titles, status, generation or culture we were born into, by staying kind and curious. Thanks again for your support. Anna Schaum AVP Culture

Pros

Seriously, I can't think of any. Stay. Away. From. This. Place.

Cons

Welp, i guess their performative diversity phase is over. That was quick. The DEI statement at the bottom of the leadership page is such a self-own. Now that's damn good content.
