Pros
My colleagues are talented, intelligent, and innovative. The teachers care about the students. There are many fully remote roles, even before Covid.
Cons
No work-life balance. The latest CEO, James, blames that on the employees. He said in a recent call that if we don’t have balance we need to be more efficient. However, the company needs to stop overloading it’s employees. For example, the average teacher has 250-300+ students, which obviously makes it difficult to be an efficient or an effective teacher. Supervisors have 50+ direct reports and meet with each one for one-on-one calls each month. The technology is garbage. We have to use our personal cell phones to authenticate our accounts about 5 times a day. Teachers are expected to call all students using their personal cell phones. Do you enjoy fearing for your job to be eliminated day to day? Well than Stride is the job for you! Stride enjoys re-orgs as frequently as every 8 months. Masses of people were recently released via zoom and email. This occurs on average every year and a half or so. If being micromanaged is your passion, come on board! There’s no lack of micromanagement here! The company underpays its employees, has a pathetic PTO policy, and medical benefits are expensive. Over the last few years, we’ve been losing our best talent to competitors and to layoffs. I worry we are only attracting the undesired talent our competitors are passing on. Google the leadership team before applying here. That says all there is to say. This is a sinking ship! Students do not come first here. The shareholders and profits come first.
