The semi-skilled boat builder scheme is a method to get cheap labourers in under a government "upskilling" scheme, and you are looked down on a lot for being a Semi Skilled Boat builder. It was known that you were given all of the -in their words- the "sh*t" jobs as we were semi skilled boat builders, such as sanding down fibreglass in full PPE for a week. Our apprenticeship course was changed throughout the course, meaning days worth of written work was scrapped as it was a cheaper option for them. You were back at school, The whole atmosphere and mindset is a school one, including b**ching amongst staff and managers, discriminating against staff members they didn't click with etc I never spoke to management as they were "above" us and some you never even saw but got orders from an unknown "higher" entity. You get transferred to another site with an hour notice. Your job role can also change in an hour notice. I was told I had a weeks holiday pay coming to me when I gave in my notice, however they changed their mind without notifying me. No adults work here.
