Pros

Erik, Calvin, Scott and Zach are awesome coworkers and make it a pleasure to work there. Without them this company would fall apart rapidly. I would recommend paying them a fair salary and let them discuss that without admonishing them. The 9 hour 5 and 4 day work week is very nice.

Cons

Leadership has no transparency and lacks innovation. Most of them have been in the company for over a decade and are hostile to new ideas or improvements. Even when the company got new owners, the Managment still looks for the worst in its employees and refuses to pay a fair wage for the job asked. The company is stagnating and goes through workers like a revolving door. Lack of leadership at the top trickles down to products with vague and unclear requirements at the bottom. This company which sells half of its product over seas and has its employees travel all over the world, was incredibly slow to respond to the Covid 19 pandemic and expected workers who could work remotely to commute in offices that don’t meet quarantine conditions. Oh and software developers beware this is definitely not a place where your skills will be appreciated. Managment is ignorant of any technical knowledge and will look down on you as “douche bag software engineers” if you dare raise any concerns like the last guy that worked here before me.

Sunstone Engineering Response

We appreciate your feedback and we will take it into consideration as we are always striving to make ourselves and the company better. We appreciate you taking the time to highlight a few of the great employees that we have here at Sunstone Engineering. The employees make the company what it is. They are the reason I enjoy working here. We trust our employees, and this is one of the reasons we can offer a flexible work schedule. Sunstone Engineering survives on its ability to be innovative, that is how we have flourished for the last 14 years. Since we were bought last year, we have urged transparency. We welcome feedback from employees, but if the employee doesn’t speak up it is hard to know what needs to change. The average years of employment on the reviewer’s team was just under 4 years, this in no way reflects a revolving door. The income of the individual writing this review was at the 50th percentile for a manufacturing company in the Provo, UT area with 0 to 50 employees and with 1 to 3 years of experience. We value our employees and compensate them fairly. We responded as quickly as could be expected to such a fast spread of COVID-19. On top of complying to government orders pertaining to this pandemic, Sunstone Engineering has gone beyond what was required to ensure the safety of its employees. As far as the name you mentioned, ____ _____ Software engineers, we have never at any time heard anyone on the engineering team being referred to as that from anywhere in the company. We will ensure that this type of attitude doesn't exist. We know we cannot make every employee happy, but we certainly strive to do so. We will take this feedback and act on ways to continue to make Sunstone Engineering one of the best places to work in southern Utah County. This reviewer was terminated due to poor performance.

Pros

Benefits are nice, that’s about it

Cons

I have never witnessed such terrible management from a company. They couldn’t come to a conclusion of the chain of command in the company, and there were too many mixed visions for the future. There were plenty of red flags in the beginning, such as every department gossiping about each other and using their church callings as a crutch to justify that they’re better than others. Most of the employees have been there 5+ years and are stuck in their ways. There are too many things to cover in this though, but overall I would stay away. Ironically, the guy that everyone had issues with was probably the best worker there and would’ve ran the company and department in a much better way.
