Pros
What's better than helping people with intellectual and developmental disabilities live a happy and healthy life?! This job was so rewarding in so many ways. Great camaraderie within the office, despite what some people may say. Many of the staff are in it for the right reasons and they actually want to help people. I really felt like I was bettering the world working for this company. There are definitely ways to move up in the company if you work hard and are consistent at doing a good job. I started as a direct support staff and moved my way up through the ranks. Current Director and former Director were/are both fabulous people and I always felt valued and supported by them. Great people in corporate positions in Memphis TN as well, starting with the founder and CEO, who has a heart of gold for people with disabilities.
Cons
Staff turnover and staff shortages were ongoing issues. Incremental raises would be a good idea for staff that are loyal and dependable and work with their supported individuals for years.
