Pros
- the job tends to attract great, interesting people from many different walks of life, and there was never a dull moment chatting with coworkers on jobs or at work events -work events are actually fun, due to above ^ -the concept of the company, serving neighbors (often older adults) that need home help and making connections between generations in your own community, is awesome and in my experience did indeed lead to genuine connections between myself and lots of customers. -the job is fun for people who get burnt out doing the same thing every day, because where you go and what you do each day can be entirely different. -you learn many skills that you didn't have before. -fantastic for people who like physical work -really flexible with hours, easy to take time off so good work/life balance
Cons
-as a young company, management could be vastly improved. There are FREQUENT instances of jobs being under-estimated and workers/management having to scramble at the last minute to find help to get a job done because they didn't schedule enough workers to complete it in the time scheduled, especially full-home moves. It would be one thing if this happened only when the company was brand new, but the company is several years old now and the frequency of miscommunicated jobs is alarming. Customers can be extremely unhappy with this, for good reason. -again with the scheduling, they are sometimes not great at putting people on jobs who are good at that specific job. The variety of tasks the company does varies widely, but someone who is good at landscaping and home cleaning may not be good at heavy lifting of furniture, or using special tools like a power washer or chainsaw. Sometimes workers will be put on jobs that they have very little experience with and have to awkwardly explain to the customer that they are not great at the job they have to do, or need help. Or, management didn't communicate well enough with the customer beforehand and there is way more to the job than was stated to the worker in the scheduling app. Once again it would be one thing if this only happened when the company was new, but it still happens at an alarming rate. - In the busy season, each worker tends to get a decent amount of hours. However, as soon as business drops, so does scheduling. Unless you are a favorite of the company or incredibly good at certain jobs, there can be entire days that you are supposed to be scheduled that you won't be. And multiple of those per week. It is good for someone who really just needs some extra money sometimes, but isn't a reliable source of part-time hours at all. -most of the upper management is EXTREMELY religious (Christian) and it is very often brought into work-related things. This is fine if you are also Christian, but can be a bit awkward if you aren't.
