Poverty wages to do a teacher's job. - Tutor Sylvan Learning Centers Employee Review

Pros

The students & coworkers

Cons

Poverty wages, no benefits, you get paid to "tutor", but really, you're teaching classrooms full of kids with behavioral problems. You aren't paid to plan, and then you aren't given enough materials to do your lessons. The "support" the staff gives is useless if you communicate behavior problems with them.. "try talking to your student about "x" problem!" wow, thanks! I would have never thought about that! No opportunity for advancement or raise. This company thrives off of paying tutors poverty wages and charging clients extremely high rates.

Pros

I enjoyed the work I did do. Working with the children and helping with teachers was fun and I got to socialize quite often with staff and students.

Cons

I was fired for missing one shift because my mother ended up in an accident. I did not get to explain myself for missing said shift and was told to think about my actions for 4 days before being let go. Extremely unprofessional.
