Pros
Good salary, meets market. Used to beat the market but this has now levelled out. Store teams work hard and are fun to be with. Store managers are capable and willing to invest in developing teams. Lots of career opportunities for assistant managers and below as store managers are desperate to leave poorly managed environments.
Cons
Business above store manager level seems broken. District Manager in Manchester area doesn’t display capability to deal with minor people issues effectively, escalates issues too quickly creating very negative situations. I got asked about my managers performance (and other store managers) in a way that seemed like they are changing out their store leaders for new, inexperienced ones. Store teams are poorly supported in a payroll model the business admits is broken. Store management teams working way above contracted hours to meet deadlines and expectations of senior leadership.
