Pros

10% discount. New merchandise is fun. You have the privilege of showing up in an air-conditioned environment and soliciting credit from every single customer.

Cons

They make a huge deal out of getting credit card sign-ups. If the store does not make its goal, the store manager and assistants have to meet with the DM to form a plan to sucker more people into getting a store credit card. The store manager then returns and watches the employees like a hawk to make sure they are soliciting every single customer. This is very uncomfortable. You have to parrot three credit questions to every single customer. If you don't ask, you will be disciplined. If you don't meet your personal credit goals, you have to sign a sheet showing that you failed your goal for the day. Management treats employees as subhuman and talks down to you (think smart-person verbal abuse that uses no profanities but cuts just as much). Management bonuses correspond to credit sign-ups and customer service scores, so if your store isn't cutting it, be prepared for pressure. The leads/key holders are paid very poorly. One lead had been there 10 years and only made $10.25/hour. As far as we can tell, management sits in the office and takes phone meetings all day. There was a career day in which we selected areas of interest about which we would be contacted. I was never contacted about my interests, therefore, I concluded that the company is not really interested in the employees.

Pros

Good pay and flexible hours

Cons

The workplace culture felt highly driven by informalities, which often made it difficult to resolve issues professionally. Management responses to workplace concerns often felt inconsistent, and similar incidents appeared to be handled differently depending on the individuals involved. Employee morale appeared low, and turnover seemed higher than expected during my time there. Lack of support during peak periods and backroom inefficiencies. The work environment felt unsustainable due to unresolved management issues, communication breakdowns, and inconsistent handling of workplace conflicts.
