Pros

- You work independently for most of the day without management breathing down your neck. - Good opportunity to gain experience driving large delivery vans. - You will learn the Alberta Employment Standards Code perfectly because you will constantly have to defend your basic labor rights.

Cons

- Wage Theft: Management systematically requires drivers to arrive early (line-up) to gather equipment and inspect vans, but this time is strictly unpaid. You only start getting paid when the "wave" officially begins. - Timecard (ADP) Manipulation: Routes are often so "cubed out" (overloaded) that taking a legally mandated 30-minute break is impossible. However, dispatchers manually insert this break into the ADP system and deduct 30 minutes from your paycheck, even if you worked non-stop. - Safety Hazards (OHS Violations): Many vans in the fleet are unsafe to drive. Drivers are regularly assigned vehicles with check engine lights on, faulty ABS, and brake issues. - Retaliation: If you refuse to drive an unsafe van or complain that a severely overloaded vehicle compromises your safety, dispatchers will punish you financially. They will change your schedule to "Stay on call" and cut your shifts to zero for weeks. - Hidden Costs: Company phones often lack network connectivity. Dispatchers openly instruct drivers to use their personal cell phone data to run the delivery app, with zero financial reimbursement. - Termination/Final Pay Issues: Upon termination, the company intentionally withholds your final pay, refuses to pay out accrued Vacation Pay, and violates federal deadlines for issuing your Record of Employment (ROE).
