Pros

1. A successful past. Almost entirely due to the owner who is easily one of the best visionaries in India. He has built up a legacy which has garnered respect from across sectors and businesses. 2. Friendly and family like environments. If you are in trouble, the company will go to lengths to support you in any way they can.

Cons

Where do I start: 1. CTC projected is massively scaled. Reimbursement on actuals are shown as part of CTC here. Hence, a major part of the CTC is virtual which will never make it into your bank account and you dont end up having no savings. 2. Appraisal process is not credible, in fact, non existent. The last appraisal was done a few years back. Since then, the appraisal have been postponed continuously to this date. Please read the concept of slavery in the history of the world. The appraisal process resonates with it. They have never said 'no' to appraisal, just never had it and told that the process is being redesigned currently and will be started off very soon. Any prospective candidate can contact current employee and ask about when the last appraisal was done here. While most of the low impacting half yearly appraisal were done on time but the ones for promotions are no where to be seen. 3. No release cycles and planning. The management commits itself to goals that cannot be achieved in even twice the allotted timeframe. Rather than de-committing features and functionality to attain the release dates, the management continues to postpone the release for months and years. The major release announced publicly in the milestones back in 2009 is still not out. That is because the release goals have become so massive and convoluted over time that it might never come out. 4. This company only hires freshers. Only freshers have not seen the technology world and culture of other companies. Hence, they can be easily brainwashed and treated like cattle. If they were to hire experienced professionals, i am sure they will leave within a few weeks. 5. Taking pride in bad mouthing about competitors internally. Though the management does it internally, this is still unethical. The motto seems to be to insult the competitors you are ahead of and fail to even recognize the presence of competitors who are way ahead. The spirit is always to downgrade rather than to realize the competition and beat it. 6. Roles are as unclear and disputed as several of our international borders. Core developers are expected (and asked to explain in appraisals why they didn't do it right) to design UI, enhance other unrelated platform areas for his functionality to run, at times gather requirements too. Cross team communication is nearly ignored by senior management and decisions are made at whim. 7. Senior management is treated like gods and it has pretty much got to their heads. Numerous instances are known where in the discussion tends to be around who is right rather than what is right for the business and technology. The system of calling senior Sir and Ma'am is still adhered to. 8. Absolutely no work life balance. I have seen this for developers and sales teams. There is no concept of compensatory offs. No team outings. No reward options or framework in place. If you are asked to come on a weekend, order your own food and yes, lose a weekend. 9. Internally, painting a picture that all is well and we are the best. Everyone needs improvement. Painting such a rosy picture in front of employees hinders internal innovation by highly motivated people who have the capacity to bring good change to the process. 10. They operate by the rule "No. of Hours spent in office = Work done". Being a technology company, this does not make sense. Techies love freedom to think whenever, wherever they are. Developers are not provided laptops and the company is yet to hear about mobile work styles and concepts of BYOD.
