Pros

Great group of guys I worked with in the field, for the most part. Became attached to my estimators, all who eventually left the company as well due to poor management. Easy bonus potential, system is flawed, you can simply falsify the build time with the stroke of a key, no verification, no paperwork required. Housed close with no inspections, outstanding walk lists a mile long and bonuses still got paid. Loved it!

Cons

Poor management. No control whatsoever, estimating was flawed so bad that the company held contests to award C.M's bonuses for material that was not being used. Example, houses were receiving 2 frame packs. Houses that were all stucco had brick delivered. Management was more worried about extra remotes for fireplaces rather than a half million a year in estimating errors. How do you handle it, they sent the entire department on a paid vacation and promoted a bunch of them to Senior estimators, awesome. Construction was treated like step children, nothing else mattered in the entire world EXCEPT for the homeowners because everyone was replaceable. Homeowners got WHAT EVER they wanted, hundreds of thousands of dollars of free stuff. Options not paid for by the buyers due to flawed estimating or bad sales input. Example, Option charged to buyer - $2500. Actual work to install said Option. - $10k. Happened daily, and NOTHING was done, why? Because sales were put on pedestals just a hair below the homeowners. Since I have been gone, there have been mass layoffs, no sales and major losses. Sure, it's industry wide, but even when things were good, sales weren't booming. With the current regime, this company is destined to flop.

Pros

Good benefits and decent pay

Cons

Advancing via merit system does not exist, low metric superintendents are awarded CSC to train. Management preaches accountability but does not practice it while, passing all the bad decisions down to their team members to take accountability for their actions and decisions. There is no team mentality in Charlotte anymore. The culture has been turned in to a game of cutthroat in which every teammate is trying to make another look bad in order to hide their mistakes. It was a great place to be when I started but it has turned sour in the worst way causing the division to lose all if their top talent at the CSM, CM, and CWM positions. Everyone feels this way and are too afraid to say it due to fear of being targeted
