Pros

As a electrician, you get lots of experience on a lot of different aspects of the trade. Electricians do lots of PLC programming. Lots of new electrical equipment has been installed over the years, so you get the opportunity to learn about both newer and older equipment. Some formal training is given on some of the equipment. During busy times, there has been lots of opportunity for overtime. Health and Safety has improved greatly.

Cons

Stability for the unionized employees is affected by the unstable oil and gas market. Layoffs occurred for a period every 2 to 3 years. During layoff periods, there is no protection for skill trades. Little to no room for advancement.

Pros

Room for growth, great culture, plenty of opportunities to learn, and investment in its employees.

Cons

Very demanding, lots of hours at time above 40, can be a lot to learn, higher expectations than other companies, and hard to seperate work and life at times.
