Pros
Easily get any new challenge, that is out of your field, if you like. By utilizing job transfer, I started my carrier at Teradyne as a hardware engineer, and then moved multiple groups. This has given me a lot of experience and a variety of skills.
Cons
Including the above job transfer, a lot of things highly depend on a manager to whom you directly report. I often felt inequality according to groups that I had worked for.
