Pros

The kids are amazing, and there are educators that believe in what the school was originally founded for. Salary and benefits at the beginning. Raises are not up to par, so less of a pro as time goes on

Cons

1. Administrators prioritize marketing over education. Many programs do not improve the educational experience, are actively talked down upon by a majority of students and staff, yet are kept to make the school look good. 2. Administrators frequently make promises of promotion for the same position to multiple people. Jobs, promotions, and salaries are actually given based on favoritism and nepotism, not skillset. Those whose promises have been broken are given additionally responsibilities without compensation nor title. 3. Job security is dependent on favoritism. Mass firings without warning. 4. Staff absence is exceptionally high, and administration does not react timely nor appropriately. 5. Giftedness always comes second, unless it is placed third, or fourth. Administrators primary focus is on whether the curriculum is politically progressive enough and marketable enough to prospective families. 6. Administrator support is inconsistent and highly contingent on the subject matter. They actively disregard issues in subjects that they are not confident in.

Pros

Incredible teachers, many are world class! The students are academically gifted. Cupertino is a cool place to work and the teacher lounge may be one of the best I've ever seen. You'll see staff often working outside because the campus is well maintained and the Northern California weather is really great! Colleagues are wonderful and get along well with each other. Some really good people work here. Teachers don't leave jobs--they flee due to poor administration..... The grass can be greener elsewhere. Kids are kids.

Cons

Leadership at the top is scattered. Lots of ideas and talk, but not much in the way of follow-through. Big ideas without the plans/drive to actually make them happen (like the high school plan that didn't come to fruition). The pay is decent, but definitely not the best in the area at comparable schools. If you LOVE meetings, duty, and no substitute teachers, you'll love working here.
