Pros

I was a bit apprehensive about moving to a smaller business after more than 10 years in a large company, but I needn’t have worried. From the very first interview, it was clear that Test Labs is focused, driven, and moves at pace. The interview process was personal, thoughtful, and centred on what I wanted from my career as much as what I could bring to the role. Onboarding has been excellent, with support from the MD, executive team, and wider colleagues. Everyone is approachable, passionate, and genuinely cares about both clients and each other.

Cons

The fast pace can be a big change if you’re used to a more traditional corporate environment. You definitely hit the ground running, but the support is always there to help you adapt.

Supportive Leadership: The manager is deeply invested in the team's success. You always know where you stand, and they’ll push you to improve. They recognise hard work and celebrate growth. Clear Expectations: There's no confusion about what success looks like in your role. Team-Oriented Culture: Collaboration is encouraged, and the team genuinely wants to see each other win. Professional Development: If you're proactive, there are lots of learning opportunities and regular feedback through daily huddle meetings and weekly 121's. Strong Work Ethic: Everyone is driven. It's a motivating environment if you thrive on a challenge. Bonus Incentives: The bonus structure is transparent and well-communicated, so you know what targets to aim for.

Cons

Management Style: Can come off as a little intense at times. Feedback is direct and you will be held accountable. Long Working Hours: To achieve the ambitious goals the business sets out often requires working long hours. Not Ideal for Everyone: If you’re looking for a more relaxed or hands-off environment, this might not be the best fit.

Pros

Recognition between team members is genuinely encouraged from the top down. There are plenty of opportunities to share feedback openly, and it’s something that’s actively supported through online feedback and face to face forums. The teams work closely together, with feedback coming both ways, from management to team members and across teams, which makes for a really nice working environment. As the company is fast growing there is plenty of opportunity for development and this actively encouraged internally with management taking an interest in each member of the team and their goals for the future.

Cons

Accountability is taken seriously here, with regular meetings focused on progress, KPIs, and development. It can feel like a lot at first, especially when you’re new and finding your feet, but it quickly becomes clear that the purpose is to achieve goals and maintain high standards. If you value structure and clear expectations, it’s an environment where you can really thrive.
