Pros
The company is very flexible in terms of how employees are treated. Vacation is generous and flexible. Hours are very flexible, within reason. Pay is decent, not exceptional. The company has been through a couple of layoffs since 2008, but my department has managed to stay intact. The company seems to be stable and solvent, often with enough money to expand into additional buildings or improve existing ones. The company is always looking to improve processes, and employee input is welcomed. Employees are not micromanaged, and in fact encouraged to work independently. Teamwork is encouraged.
Cons
The company appears to be playing catch-up with its competitors. Technologically, the products are cutting edge, but delivering on promises to customers is somewhat suspect. While the company claims to promote from within, it is lacking in that respect. More often than not, outside candidates are brought in to fill vacancies that should go to internal candidates, for a variety of reasons. Pay raises are minimal, although regular, for the majority of employees. Until recently an archaic accounting/inventory management system has throttled productivity, but change is in the works.
