10 years ago we were about 15 people, and now we’re over 500 people across 10 countries. Obviously in that time people have come and gone, with not everyone leaving delighted, but by and large, the goal has always been to build the kind of company that people want to work at. We try to minimise hierarchy and red tape to remain agile - whilst at the same time being a safe, stimulating and fun place to work. It’s certainly changed over the years, but we keep things reasonably well-balanced, whilst never forgetting that we can always be better. Direct feedback is enthusiastically and regularly encouraged and given within Adaptavist. There are many channels through which it can be given, and our CEO is more than happy to be part of the conversation. We get a lot of positive (and some negative) feedback regularly from around the business. When feedback is negative, it’s generally very constructive in nature, and with this, we’ve fixed and improved many things and will continue to do so in the future. We’re not perfect, and would never claim to be, but we’re always trying to improve. Like many others who’ve grown a business, our leaders across the business will hire from their networks; many will have worked with talented people who have something to add to the mix. Whilst we don’t have a board, less than half of the exec team have worked with the CEO at other companies prior to joining Adaptavist and 30% of the exec team are female. Our mission for a long time was to be the biggest and best Atlassian partner by every reasonable metric. We got there and by definition, we couldn’t have done that without strategically focusing on Atlassian until we, more or less, achieved that goal. Our mission then broadened to include a number of adjacent ecosystems and problem spaces, each at different stages of development. The Atlassian business continues to flourish with products like ScriptRunner continuing to be one of the most popular in the ecosystem, and Adaptavist winning awards for delivering cloud migrations and other complex consulting services. With a decade of consistent growth, our strategy seems to be working out pretty well. We hire people, build products and provide services to customers who are happy, and in a better position having worked with us. We know they’re happy because not only do they tell us that they are, but they come back to ask us to continue working with them.
