Pros
In the months that I worked there during school breaks, I made a very nice sum of money from the tip pool. Also, I got a lot of steps in, made connections with some cool people, and got to really see how the hospitality industry worked from a management perspective - even as a food runner.
Cons
Blatantly violating labor laws by offering a base pay of $4/hour. On good weeks, that didn't even cover taxes. No cash tips and the servers consistently did not appropriately tip out their server assistants. No overtime nor holiday pay, whether you worked it or not. On bad nights, I considered calling OSHA, the health department, and the Florida department of labor - and there were plenty of bad nights, too.
