Pros

Great training for teachers: There’s a solid training program here, and that’s honestly a big plus. Despite the content knowledge that you might have, teaching and delivery are skills that take practice, and the feedback you get along the way really helps you improve and feel more confident before you start running your own classes. Supportive environment with room to explore: The team is friendly, helpful, and always willing to share advice. What I really like is that you get to wear different hats. You’ll be involved in things like curriculum, training, marketing, and even project management. It’s a nice way to discover what areas you might want to grow into later on. If you’re new to the tuition industry or just want to try teaching but don’t know where to start, this is honestly a good place to begin. You’ll learn a lot, and if you’re the kind of person who enjoys picking up new things and doesn’t mind a steep learning curve at the start, you’ll fit right in.

Cons

Training can feel long: The first three months are mainly training, and it can feel like you’re doing the same thing on repeat. But to be fair, you’re still getting a full-time salary, and the skills you pick up during this period will save you a lot of time later when you’re teaching on your own. Late hours and packed holidays: Since this is a tuition job, classes usually start in the afternoon and end quite late. You’ll probably work one weekend, but you do get Monday and another weekend day off, so it balances out. The school holidays are the busiest time. It would be good to expect long days (sometimes 9am–9pm), but that’s really just part of the nature of the job. You can sound out early and get given less classes if that is something you don't mind giving up -- holidays are really the best time to earn money even for us as teachers.

Hi there, thank you so much for your feedback! We’re delighted to hear that you found the training programme comprehensive and the environment supportive. Our team puts a lot of effort into creating a structured training experience that helps new teachers strengthen their skills, build confidence, and feel fully prepared before leading their own classes. It’s also wonderful to know that you’ve enjoyed the collaborative culture and opportunities to explore different areas beyond teaching classes. We believe in giving our teachers the space to grow and discover their strengths and areas of interest, so we’re glad this has been meaningful for you! We appreciate your feedback on training and communication about workload expectations during peak periods as well. These are valuable insights that will help us continue improving our processes. Thank you once again for sharing your experience and for the heart you bring to your work here. We’re grateful to have you on the team and look forward to continuing our collaboration at The Pique Lab! 🌱

Pros

As an ex-MOE trained Science teacher of more than 25 years, I find that the system is too rigid in hiring new teachers. It seems to overlook senior or experienced educators in their 50s, even though many are MOE-trained and well-qualified.

Cons

The work booklets exhibit several errors in their answer keys. For instance, in the 'Web of Life' (OEQ) booklet, the answers fail to clearly articulate the claims made in the earlier segments of the same question. This inconsistency suggests that the answer key may not meet the expected rigor. As a concerned parent, I find it troubling that the tuition center charges high fees while providing a curriculum that raises questions about its quality and reliability.
