Pros

The people are great and work really hard. They are dedicated to the potential and dream of what the place could really become

Cons

Staff morale is very low. Abusive and erratic behavior from CEO and his wife. Staff are constantly blamed and victimized. Very high turnover. No staff development. He lacks focus and can't do his job. Instead of stepping down he constantly blames staff and treats them like his servants.

Pros

I loved working with my co-workers, all of whom were bright, hard-working, dedicated, and fun. The executive management is where there is a problem and because it's a small non-profit with the smallest board oversight I have ever witnessed (!) and no HR (!), the CEO will continue to bring his employees down.

Cons

The CEO is verbally abusive, disorganized and does not respect his employees. That's the reason there's no middle management in this company. There is executive management and entry-level staff members with a lot of turnover that the executives blame on "bad fit." The truth is that working with the big boss is degrading. He gets off on demanding that you come into his office, closing the door, and yelling & cursing at you. (He does this at some point to everyone.) His behavior is holding his employees and his company back from excelling. The journalism quality is good but it could be GREAT if the executives respected their employees decision. The news website is their bread and butter but they won't spend any money on making it contemporary. It looks like it was built in 1995.
