Pros

The principal of this company is a successful designer who holds very high standards for his staff. His firm produces quality projects and is reputation is well-known and respected in the industry. He is firm with clients, a quality rare in the design industry. In many instances he appears to be a charming and friendly person. He offers 100% paid health insurance, eight US holidays, and sick/personal/vacation days as per individual contracts, that continues to increase every year after the first two years of employment.

Cons

business sometimes. He is verbally abusive, regularly yelling at female staff in the office space. This treatment happens for male staff too, but less frequently. The environment is extremely quiet, desks are surrounded by very high walls that form very closed-off cubicles, preventing any connection or collaboration with adjacent colleagues. His senior staff regularly gossip about him behind his back. They don't actively encourage learning and development of junior staff and provide little to no guidance, instead, expecting their skills to be of senior level. There is a regular, tense, negative atmosphere in the space. He regularly fires staff at whim, those who have been with the company for a short period of time or those who have been with him for several years. There are many resignations.

Pros

I had the pleasure of working with Tihany Design for a significant duration, and I must say, my experience has been nothing short of exceptional.

Cons

The office is a bit small, but it may help with the team communication.

Pros

- Dedicated staff working towards a unified goal of making something well designed and sensible in the high end luxury hospitality market - Alessia Genova is incredibly detail oriented with her designs, creates a sophisticated palette and is ready and willing to mentor younger staff members - When working there - I was able to get to work on a variety of projects from hotels, restaurants and specialty projects such as cruise-lines in locations all around the world. It was very dynamic and always was of the highest design. - Smaller office so everyone wore multiple hats which helped with the growth curve -Teams were smaller and encouraged design point of view from all staff members, readily welcoming of all ideas - Highly customized work - everything was custom from the furniture to the silk rugs. The design always told a story and flawlessly executed to fit the client needs - Learned a lot about the customization of furniture and the steps taken to review each piece! Really interesting to see how something drawn in CAD is then built and then further customized after the mock up is made!

Cons

- Didn't attend client meetings - which may have been due to scheduling as I was working on my masters and went to classes 2 days a week - Long hours - finding that this is an industry standard
