Pros

• Educators can rest on Jewish holidays (including weekends) alongside national public holidays. • Very small classrooms. • Generally good and safe working conditions. • Adequate time for completing required responsibilities. • Extra-murals are not required. • While being an ethnic and religious Jewish school, it is still inclusive towards a diverse group of secular academic educators. • Good ethics and friendly management. • Nice snacks in weekly staff meetings. • Staff occasionally receives “thank you” messages or gift-vouchers.

Cons

• Religious activities get precedence over secular academics. • Teachers are required to personally travel between the separate campuses for boys and girls, often multiple times a day. • Despite a fair monthly salary; there is no salary bonus or other additional benefits (e.g. medical aid) are included in the employment contract. • Management is required to be religiously Jewish (which is understandable for a religious school) but can be seen as limiting for secular teachers’ career opportunities within the institution.
