Pros
Most of the people are awesome, friendly and hardworking
Cons
Jobs are being offshored (sorry, “realigned to different geographic territories”) to save $$- even at the detriment of project deliveries that will benefit the company long term. Actual core workers (developers) are being put upon more and more with very little incentive, benefits or motivation outside of peer to peer friendships. Sales teams are wined and dined at every available opportunity and other workers (including those developing the product functionality for sales teams to sell) are told to “not be envious”. Bonuses and pay freezes are common….and marked on a curve. So those that meet all performance and appraisal targets will still get marked down at random to avoid any uplift. Easier to leave and get a payrise immediately. Senior managers / directors & exec has become very ineffective and toxic (bar a few key individuals). Key focus is on US shareholders and keeping them happy. Staff have been leaving in droves - including quite a few with 20+ years…with nothing to go to. And then backfilled offshore. Some senior staff are bullies and others are toxic and this is allowed and left unchallenged by other managers / HR (even when witnessed) because of their seniority and to “save face”. At most they are sidelined/ promoted into other jobs. Technology stack lacks investment and trade offs are constantly made in place of strong investment / bold decisions to invest in it and bring it up to best standards. (Think of it as putting a plaster on a severed artery!) Very different to the one I joined and initially loved for many years. Very demotivating atmosphere and employee survey ratings dropping year on year show this. But focus is on keeping customers and US managers happy.
