Pros

Not sure if it's a pro or a con but laid back, almost too much as there doesn't appear to be any urgency. My immediate co-workers were nice & friendly.

Cons

During my short 7 mos there before deciding to quit I've never seen so many people quit and leave a company as I did there. In a nutshell, I was hired by & reported to a VP who lied to me about my compensation. During negotiation I was told they were putting the finishing touches on a new commission plan which they intend to roll out before the end of the first half of the year in a big sales conference hence why I was guaranteed for the first 6mos. Once I got in I quickly learned the leadership team had been saying that for the past 2 years. After the first couple months I started to ask questions about the new commission plan and how it was coming along with no response, only when I spoke with my VP over the phone and asked point blank was I told it's not high on the priority list. I then proceeded to ask if he could explain to me the current commission plan in order to understand how I would get compensated going forward. A few tried but couldn't really explain it well and it was not written/documented anywhere for reference. This lack of transparency and simplicity sets off some major red flags. I resigned once my last guaranteed commission payment showed up in my bank account. I gather they figure it's safe to lie and mislead you about the commission to get you in as once you get in where are you going to go, you need a job, and most people have have too much debt - well not this guy. This demonstrates complete abuse of trust of the not only the VP but of the leadership team as a whole. You worked with your accounts until they got big enough they could then go direct to your suppliers which leaves you stuck trying to replace that business - not a good strong working relationship with the vendors. Being in Canada the US Head Office never really understood the effect of the weak Canadian dollar at the time and if material had to come in from another branch or the US an internal fee was attached to it driving up landed cost which you built your margin on top off which in turn would price you out of the market.
