You do get to spend a lot of time with animals. You also have almost no supervision so you can teach anything you want.

The management at TFT is very unprofessional. They will say inappropriate things not just in the office but also in front of students and parents. I received almost no training and no one ever watched me teach. They also typically hire young and eager environmental educators. They know they can ask you to work a lot for very little. I was also asked to spend an entire semester teaching classes designed for 2 teachers (a lot of high-support needs youth) by myself and paid me the same as if it was a typical class. Don’t let the high base pay fool you - you work many hours and drive a lot that are not compensated for at all.
