Pros

I have worked part-time with Triangle Swim School for nearly two years while completing my undergraduate degree at UNC Chapel Hill. While I had a few years of swimming experience, Coach Matt hired me on the basis of my prior experience coaching and tutoring children of all ages. By prioritizing work and rapport with children, Coach Matt developed a professional, student-focused staff that excels at crafting lessons for students of all ages and experience levels. The low instructor-student ratio allows for more efficient, hands-on coaching, a fun learning environment for the kids, and, importantly, an extremely safe swimming environment. All instructors are trained to follow a progression of skills that will produce the best improvement results, which has helped to make my coaching experience a success. However, unlike other swim schools in the area, Coach Matt chooses instructors and their lessons based on their personal strengths. Instructors are encouraged to come up with their own methods of student improvement, which personalizes the lesson to fit the needs of each child and allows for a more personal instructor-student relationship. During my time at TSS I have had the opportunity to receive and participate in paid weekly phone calls with managing staff. This helped to solve issues within my lessons and come up with solutions for any class difficulties; it also included an optional life-coaching discussion. These phone calls not only helped to improve my lessons, but also my personal well-being and ability to set goals for the future. I have also recently been accepted as a Crew Leader for TSS, which included leadership assessments helpful to my future career and an opportunity for growth within the company. Matt is also fair in regards to compensation and genuinely cares about his employees. Overall, I have really enjoyed my time working at TSS and will truly miss my boss and co-workers!

Cons

Working with kids in the water is a very energy-demanding job and can become tiring after many hours. However, this is easily overcome after a few months of working here.

Pros

As a part-time CPO for TSS's Cary, North Carolina location, I am provided with adequate flexibility and all of the necessary tools in order to perform my work to the best of my abilities, all while working around my full-time job. The owner (Matt Harr) is a great individual to work for, who allows me this flexibility and doesn't micro-manage. He puts his staff as his top priority, something that many business owners forget to do in today's society. While my contact with the rest of the staff is minimal due to the nature of my work, it is clear the positive rapport Matt has built with his swim instructors, and the quality relationships that everyone has built with their clients. Anyone looking to learn how to swim, or wishing to become an instructor and share their expertise, should look no further than Triangle Swim School for their needs.

Cons

Weekend work, although that is the common nature or any job involving swimming pools, so I don't truly consider it a con.
