Pros

They’re guaranteed government work because the company is run by a veteran

Cons

My IRA appears to have gone missing, I was repeatedly asked to move interstate at my own expense and fired after I didn’t. I had already relocated overseas for the job at my own expense and none of this was discussed with me before I signed the contract. The owner would constantly talk about integrity. Due to confidentiality I can’t go into detail but the company apparently made certain promises to clients and then told me they weren’t able to follow through with them and this became largely my problem. Also, micromanagement is the standard here. Expect every takeoff to be reviewed regardless of how much experience/demonstrated success you have and to be pulled up only on the things which make literally no difference to cost.

Pros

None really. Stay away from the Pittsburgh office especially.

Cons

The majority of "leadership" don't have estimating credentials. They're a service-disabled veteran-owned business so they get work that kind of keeps the lights on but they get the crumbs the really good consulting firms leave behind. The projects are small scale and insignificant so if you're building a career don't expect any recognition from working there. The Pittsburgh office is small and cramped and heavily dependent on the NY office with no room for growth. Stay away if you're a true professional in cost management looking to advance. There are only two or three overly critical persons that have the ear of upper management. It's inevitable you'll end up the target of their criticism and they'd rather treat you like you kicked thier dog and hold a grudge than provide coaching and support for your growth.
