Pros

True is brilliant at marketing themselves. They create a beautiful image of the company, but it is like a beautiful tombstone over the grave of a rotten corpse.

Cons

The HR/People team is the most incompetent and biased that I have every worked with. They actually lied to me, more than once. The training programs treat you as if you are a 7th grader. They are thin and shallow. HR uses 'culture' and 'DEI' as both a shield and a weapon - a shield to protect them and a weapon to go after others. I have spoken with many current and former partners, principals and associates and True is anything but true and does not understand the meaning of the word integrity. The company's leadership and People Org fail, but they then blame the employees. It's sick. The company has its favorites, and the long-time Partners can do whatever they wish, without any repercussions. Deals are given out based on who likes who, not on merit. This company rode the wave of the VC-backed boom in tech, but since then they have had multiple rounds of layoffs and they are pushing people out to hide another layoff. They could get away with shallow work and recirculating the same candidates because demand was so intense.

Pros

True has been a great place to be, and I've enjoyed working here. I have no doubt they'll surpass the SHREK firms in the not-so-distant future. The people here are A+. If the broader platform play comes together cohesively, the company will see huge successes from that

Cons

There is certainly a lot that, despite being 14 years old, they're still figuring out. Upper management is truly phenomenal both professionally and personally, but they are disconnected from the search work happening on the ground and the broader market dynamics. True takes on too much work, and capacity is always a problem. Commissions and splits are lower than the market average, and I feel nickel-and-dimed every time a new contract comes in.
